Devil's Food Cake Mix Cookies

1 box Devil's Food cake mix

2 eggs

1/2 c. vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all ingredients together, roll into walnut-sized balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet, then move to wire rack. Makes 2-3 dozen cookies.

Variations: Add walnuts, pecans, coconut or chocolate chips.

These stay very moist and chewy for a couple of days (if they last that long!)

you can add cream cheese frosting and put two together and you have a homemade oreo! So yummy!

I tried this with German Chocolate cake mix (all I had on hand) and it was fantastic. So moist and delicious. Also, I added walnuts and coconut, as recommended, and they turned out fantastic. Thanks so much for the recipe. (although, yes, they weren't easy to keep around for long)

What a wonderful blog you have!

This is by far my favorite easy cookie recipe. It's so good.
I love the homemade oreo idea, too.

My children request this recipe often so here's my variations:

I substitute one melted stick of butter for the oil.
. . .and use the Triple Chocolate Cake mix from Betty Crocker.
. . .and add some extra chocolate chips.
. . .and sometimes M&Ms.

Also, I've used the Pilsbury Funfetti Cake mix and added butterscotch chips. That's amazing.

so moist!!
YUM!

I love this recipe. You can also mix and match other cake mixes and chips for other favorites. I have used a spice cake mix, one can of pumpkin, and chocolate chips for pumpkin cookies. Be creative and have fun!

This is by far a family favorite. I added Hershey Kisses to the top of the cookie. After baking let the cookie sit for min. then softly press a kiss to the top. The kiss will stay soft for awhile so cool completely before stacking.

these are also great with a brownie mix (19.5 oz box), 1/3 c oil and 2 eggs

Simply perfect. They do not spread out as much as I assumed so you can make them bigger and closer together than 2in.

The first batch of these cookies JUST came out of the oven.. and they are tasty! So easy! I am having a hard time fighting off the family, and they look like I got them from a bakery. So pretty. Thank you so much for this post!

I've made these lots, but my recipe calls for 1/3 c of oil. It works with this much less oil just fine... in case anyone wants to cut some extra calories :)

I have used this recipe many many times and have been asked for it over and over again. My favorite is to add Andes Mint Chips, however I have not been able to find them recently, so I don't know if they make them anymore. Chocolate & Peanut Butter is always a good combo - so adding Peanut Butter chips is yummy to. Thanks for sharing!

I just tried these and they were tasty, but didn't flatten out. I think I'd use more oil next time, as Kelly mentioned. But a great basic recipe! I added walnuts and white chocolate chips.

I have also made these cookies lots (I always add cream cheese frosting for oreos) but never made them with another kind of cake mix. But while I was visiting some family this past weekend we tried using a white cake mix with some sprinkles mixed in and they turned out perfect. We also added some cream cheese frosting and them made for some yummy cream filled cookies! YUM!!

There is a recipe which I lost: jiffy yellow cake mix made like cookie dough pressed into a 1/4" or so crust in the bottom of an oiled and dusted rectangular pan; lightly sprinkle with light brown sugar, sparsely dust with cinnamon then spread with sour cream and arrange well-drained canned peach slices and maraschino cherries. Bake until toothpick is fairly clean. Comes out like cheesecake with cookie crust. It has to be a jiffy or generic cake mix or it is too moist for the crust.
